Try updating the Printers drivers.
We have Works 4.0 on a computer at work that uses a
networked Windows 2000 professional o/s. It worked fine,
using a dot matrix printer, until we got a new laser
printer. The old printer used a parallel port cable. The
new printer uses USB cable. Now, we constantly get "Out
of Memory" error messages. What's wrong?

Kat, Here's my response to the message from Dick Blaine
that you'll see posted just above yours. There have been
several posts with this same problem, on different HP
printers. In my response, you'll see what worked for me,
and the same principle worked for others. So . . . try
it. And please let me know what happens.
==================================================

Dick . . . I've been having an out-of-memory problem
trying to PRINT-PREVIEW the only database I have in Works
6, in Word Suite 2002, in XP Home. My printer is a
Laserjet4P. This does not happen in any other
application, nor did it happen before I had to reformat
my hard drive and clean-reinstall XP Home and all my
programs. And I certainly have plenty of memory.

Dell was no help. One of the responders at the Microsoft
community newsgroup suggested updating the driver. I
tried, downloading the same one you did. It was dated
March '02, a month after I got my Dell 8200 computer --
but when installing, XP gave me a message that the driver
was not "signed" and that dire consequences would follow
its installation. I hesitated -- but installed: no bad
results . . . and no solution. The MS responder also
suggested trying to emulate my printer. I noted that when
I went to the Hewlett-Packard newsgroup, several other
users had the same problem with other HP printers, and
SOLVED it by emulating their printer. This was also
recommended by 2 or 3 HP responders. So I tried it. The
HP series 4 printer I chose from the XP "Add printer"
screen was the 4 Plus. I made it my default: IT WORKED!

I've never tried changing my paper size, so I don't know
if that problem of yours would've occurred in my case,
since my unchanged default setting was the usual 8.5 x 11
inch stationery.

Try the 4 Plus -- and please let me know if what worked
for me and others -- this emulation ploy -- works for
you. Tx.
